Sen. Tammy Duckworth has tested positive for COVID-19 according to an announcement posted to X, formerly known as Twitter, on Sunday.

According to the post, Duckworth will be continuing her work in isolation before returning to the U.S. Senate when it is safe to do so.

“I will continue working for the people of Illinois in isolation and follow medical guidance on when to return to the Senate chamber,” Duckworth said.

With a growth in recent COVID-19 cases, Duckworth is the latest of several Illinois Senators to test positive. The senator also tested positive for the virus in December.

Duckworth serves in the U.S. Senate Committee on Armed Services and the U.S. Committee on Commerce, Science and Transportation. In the coming weeks, the Senate is said to move on three bills, two of which being a Transportation-Housing and Urban Development bill and a Military Construction-Veterans Affairs bill.
