Illinois Student Government passed a resolution Wednesday evening that mandates basic CPR training for all incoming students.

“I am in full support of this resolution,” said Madeleine Hubbard, sophomore in Media, ISG senator and former Illini Media Company employee. “I think it is a really good skill for any person to learn.”

ISG also passed the resolution to recommit to the creation of the Arab American Cultural Center or Middle Eastern and North African Cultural Center.

A resolution allowing the senate to host a “Money Matters’ workshop to help students acquire better money management skills was also approved at the meeting.

ISG added new members to its staff on Wednesday. Eight new senators were sworn in, and Alissa Xiao, freshman in LAS, was appointed parliamentarian.

Brian Faber, executive assistant to the associate vice chancellor for student affairs and director of auxiliary services, said the transportation fee will be raised to cover the total transportation cost. The current fee is $59 per semester.

The sexual assault video campaign from the Sexual Assault Prevention Department was approved by the senate at the meeting.

ISG presented a resolution calling for the University to provide funds for students who are required to use a paid platform for a class.

During the meeting, ISG also brought forward an amendment that would clarify the impeachment procedures for committee chairs. The resolution was moved to committee.
