Champaign

Forgery was reported at Finish Line, 2000 N. Neil St., around 8 p.m. Thursday. According to the report, an unknown offender used a counterfeit $100 bill to purchase items from the business. 

Aggravated battery and aggravated assault were reported in the 200 block of Kenwood Road around 5 p.m. Thursday. According to the report, an unknown offender set off a firearm in the area, which led to the victim being struck by gunfire through his apartment window. 

Arrests were made on the charges of aggravated unlawful use of a weapon, resisting police and the unlawful possession or use of a weapon by a felon in the 100 block of West Green Street around 5 p.m. Thursday. According to the report, two suspects attempted to flee and were eventually apprehended after officers attempted to detain them in a parking lot. A loaded firearm was found inside the vehicle the two had used to flee from police.

Theft was reported in the 700 block of South Gregory Street on Wednesday and Thursday. According to the report, packages belonging to several apartment residents had been opened, and their contents were stolen by an unknown offender. 

Urbana

Theft of a motor vehicle was reported in the 1300 block of Brighton Drive around 1 p.m. Thursday. According to the report, the victim’s unlocked car was stolen from her apartment parking lot by an unknown offender while she still possessed the only keys to the vehicle. The vehicle was entered into the department’s leads as stolen.

Criminal damage to property was reported at Cunningham Children’s Home, 1301 N. Cunningham Ave., around 10 a.m. Thursday. According to the report, an unknown offender damaged a window on the victim’s vehicle while it was parked overnight. 

An arrest was made on the charge of possession of in-state warrants in the 1300 block of Brookstone Court around 8 a.m. Thursday. According to the report, the suspect possessed two valid warrants in Champaign County for failure to appear for aggravated battery and failure to appear for retail theft.
