Who watches ‘Watchmen’? Pastor David Wilkerson

Kumar’s Journal: March 7, 2009
Solo cups on street this morning, crushed cans and shattered bottles next to sewers. Broken railings on ground.
Unofficial was a choice. They followed the parade of leprechauns and cheap booze through Green Street.
Now the nation is about to go up in flames, and we’re standing holding our St. Patrick’s Day shirts, and suddenly no one knows how to put a fire out.

New York City pastor decides to unburden his soul and tell us an “urgent message.” His name is David Wilkerson. Founded Times Square Church. Wanted to warn everyone of impending doom. Everyone means those on the mailing list of his blog. Didn’t know they were the only people worth saving.
Hurm.
Must investigate blog named “David Wilkerson Today: Daily Devotions.”
Friday’s entry is titled “Getting to Know the Father.” Whatever that means. Saturday is the “Urgent Message.” Why the sudden decision to warn us? Why move the doomsday clock closer to midnight?
Says he’s compelled by the Holy Spirit. Writes “AN EARTH-SHATTERING CALAMITY IS ABOUT TO HAPPEN. IT IS GOING TO BE SO FRIGHTENING, WE ARE ALL GOING TO TREMBLE – EVEN THE GODLIEST AMONG US.”
All caps and paragraph break. This guy is serious. Says even the godliest among us have to be scared. Thought people like this only believed in one god. What gave him the blues?
Goes on about warnings for 10 years about a “thousand fires coming to New York City.” Says the megaplex is going to burn. Not sure what that means. Forecasts riots and blazing fires in major cities across America and the world.
Mentions riots in Watts, Los Angeles, Calif., in 1965. Short drive from Hollywood. Hollywood known for sinning. No clear connection.
Don’t buy that New York and other metropolises in world will have disaster at same time. Something you’d see in books or movies. Whenever the world is on the brink of chaos, New York has to be destroyed. Doesn’t make sense.
Wilkerson writes that we’re not in a recession or depression. Who’s making us suffer? God. He says God is judging the raging sins of America and the nations, destroying the secular foundations.
Fair enough, punishment will be swift. But Wilkerson says to keep 30-day supply of nonperishable food, toiletries and essentials. Don’t understand. If God’s sending the world to hell, why is Wilkerson telling us to hide for just a month?
It doesn’t add up. Someone wants to knock us out of the picture for 30 days.
Before signing off, writes “Note: I do not know when these things will come to pass, but I know it is not far off.” No details.
Hurm.

Back on Wilkerson’s blog. In entry “Perfect Peace” says that when surrounded by chaos and hysteria in the coming days, America will see testimony of God’s glory and power.
Wilkerson mentions ominous news, panic, human anxiety, terrible chaos. Need a linker. God’s judgment? No. Wilkerson? Yes.

Nothing makes sense. Wilkerson trying to get people to believe in Jesus. Pastor does that everyday. What’s to gain from this plan?
Blog updated. Entry titled, “Fix Your Thoughts on Jesus.”
Opening line says, “We are to listen carefully to the warnings of the watchman but are not to become obsessed with their warnings.”
Means nothing.
March 12th, 7 a.m.
Final entry? Read blog post again. Opening line has changed.
An “a” taken out, an “e” added. Now contains the word “Watchmen.”
Wilkerson saw Watchmen movie on 3/6/09. Thought it was a sin to have enjoyed it. Claimed that world was going to end. Trying to scare followers into staying out of theaters for a month. Attempt at destroying Watchmen’s box office revenue.
People have to know. Never compromise. Not even in the face of pastor preaching Armageddon.
