Protesters celebrate police officers withdrawing from the barricade. On Friday morning protestors set up an encampment for Palestine which was shut down by University police and University Facilities & Services, leading to one arrest. Protestors reconvened at Alma in the afternoon setting up an encampment which lasted late into the night on Friday.

Hi! My name is Athena Ly, and I’m a sophomore pursuing a dual degree in architecture and philosophy. I have been working at The Daily Illini since fall 2022, starting as a copy editor and eventually getting promoted to slotter. I have since taken over the position of Copy Chief!
