Champaign

Identity theft was reported on the 1100 block of Broadmoor Drive around 4:32 p.m. on Nov. 24. According to the report, the victim’s personal information was used to make a fraudulent employment claim. 

Criminal damage to property was reported on the 200 block of South Country Fair Drive around 9:49 p.m. on Nov. 23. According to the report, an unknown offender slashed three tires on the victim’s vehicle. 

Theft over $500 was reported on the 400 block of North Neil Street around 8:31 a.m. on Nov. 24. According to the report, the victim’s cell phone was stolen.

University

Extortion was reported by a student at the University on Nov. 15. According to the report, the victim engaged in a sexual camera act with the offender he had met online. The offender recorded the interaction without the victim’s permission. The offender then threatened to send the video to the victim’s family if the victim didn’t pay the offender $900. The student agreed and sent the money to an unwired account. The offender then demanded more money, which led the victim to notify police. 

A report was made by a student at the University that his vehicle was scratched on at least three separate occasions at lot B-1, 1205 West Springfield Avenue, between Nov.10 and Tuesday. According to the report, the estimated repair cost for the damaged vehicle is not yet available. 

Urbana

Theft $500 and under was reported on the 2000 block of Linview Avenue around 3:44 p.m. on Sunday. According to the report, a catalytic convertor was cut off of the victim’s work truck. 

Credit card fraud was reported on the 2800 block of Susan Stone Drive around 9:27 a.m. on Sunday. According to the report, an unknown offender attempted to purchase items using the victim’s credit card information. The transaction was stopped before the purchases were completed. 

Theft $500 and under was reported on the 100 block of North Gregory Street around 8:49 a.m. on Saturday. According to the report, the victim’s bicycle was stolen.
