Be sure to utilize these items to stay warm at outdoor events this weekend, especially if your dad’s not used to Illinois winters.

Blankets

You are allowed to bring blankets into Memorial Stadium when you come to watch the Dads Weekend football game. These will come in handy when you face the cold metal benches, and will allow you to focus on the game — not the freezing weather.

Layers

Layer up with your favorite Illinois gear to stay warm. If you later realize you’ve bundled up a bit too much, you can easily take off that extra sweater instead of being uncomfortable the whole game. Besides, we all know Illinois weather is quite unpredictable.

Hand warmers

Forget gloves — stick a few hand warmers in your pockets instead.

Hot drinks

Stop by one of Illinois’ many coffee shops and grab something warm. A good cup of hot cocoa, coffee or tea will help you brace the brisk weather.
