Hockey team continues season undefeated

By Wes Anderson

Another day, another goalie, another shutout.

After Mike Burda held Central Oklahoma in check on Friday, fellow sophomore goaltender DJ Kohler had a goalless game of his own as the Illinois hockey club swept the Bronchos with a 4-0 win at the Ice Arena Saturday.

On offense, it was business as usual for the Illini, outshooting Central Oklahoma by 13 and pressuring the Broncho defense. Junior forward Jordan Pringle also duplicated his performance from the series opener, scoring two goals on Saturday, including one on a Broncho power play.

The pair of shutout victories marks a big defensive improvement for Illinois, who appear on top of their game as next week’s series with Penn State looms. The Illini will look to take down the No. 1 ranked Nittany Lion Icers beginning Friday at 7 p.m. at the Ice Arena.
