Hockey team ends semester undefeated

By Wes Anderson

Nine different Illini found the net and Nick Pecoraro made 23 saves as the Illinois hockey club wrapped up an undefeated first semester with another 11-1 rout of Illinois State Saturday night.

Drew Heredia added a goal to his hat trick on Friday, while freshman forward Mark Price netted his first career goal.

Pecoraro, a freshman goaltender, made his first career start, allowing one goal while also carding a rare assist on the Illini’s third score of the night.

The Illini’s 22 goals in the sweep of the Redbirds was a season high for a series.

Illinois now enters semester break at 17-0-0 and will return to action on Jan. 4, taking on Michigan-Dearborn on the road.
