Women’s tennis earns Big Ten win against Wisconsin

By Bret Greenberg

The No. 70 Illini notched their third straight Big Ten victory against the Badgers at home on Saturday 6-1.

Illinois struggled early against Wisconsin on courts two and three in doubles, losing 9-7 and 8-5 respectively. However sophomore Megan Fudge and junior Shivani Dave gelled nicely on court one, winning 8-5. They are 2-0 together in their first two matches as a tandem; something the team needs more of in doubles.

Losing the doubles point did not faze the team as they swept singles 6-0. Sophomore Kristina Minor clinched the match with a 7-6, 6-1 victory over Wisconsin’s Morgan Tuttle. The Illini play again at noon tomorrow against No. 1 Northwestern.
