The Illinois women’s cross country team placed second among the Division I schools at the Bradley Open on Friday, with Indiana State University claiming first place.

In her season debut, sophomore Stacy Hague led the Orange and Blue, finishing in fifth place with a time of 19:08 in the 5K race. Sophomore Kate Tysse and senior Christina Beaird also finished in the top-10, placing sixth and seventh respectively.

“They went out there and they competed really well and they went after the race,” head coach Jeremy Rasmussen said. “They really did what we asked them to do and that was to work together and help each other out throughout the race and try to continue and move forward and catch as many people as they could.”
