Sports blog: Running back LeShoure breaks jaw in intra-team incident

By Daniel Johnson

Illinois true freshman running back Mikel LeShoure will be out at least one week after an incident with a unnamed teammate resulted in a broken jaw Saturday night.

Associate Sports Information Director Cassie Arner said Monday that LeShoure and his teammate had the incident outside of the stadium and it occurred after the game. Arner said that the teammate did not suffer any injuries, and that LeShoure’s status will be week to week following Saturday’s game versus Western Michigan.

Head coach Ron Zook issued the following statement Monday afternoon.

“I am very disappointed that something like this has occurred. We have investigated the incident and will deal with it internally,” Zook said.

The injury to LeShoure comes on the heels of running back Daniel Dufrene sitting out Illinois game against Iowa for “personal reasons” according to Zook, although he said Dufrene will be ready for the game against Western Michigan.
