Soccer earns spot in NCAA Tournament

The Illinois soccer team’s season will continue as it received a berth to the NCAA Tournament on Monday night. The Illini will open up postseason play this Friday against the Memphis Tigers (15-4-2) in the Columbia, Mo., sub-regional.

Memphis tied for the regular-season Conference USA title and the Tigers went on to win their league tournament. The Tigers are also currently on a 10-match unbeaten streak.

The Illini were on the tournament bubble, but their quality RPI, tough schedule and three-match undefeated streak to finish the season were just enough to earn them the equivalent of a No. 12 seed in the field of 64.
