ESPN: Illini women’s basketball recruiting class ranked 2nd in nation

By James VandeBerg

Illinois women’s basketball coach Jolette Law signed six athletes for next year’s team this afternoon, according to a press release.

Adrienne GodBold of Chicago, Brianna Jones of Toledo, Ohio, Kersten Magrum of Frankfort, Amber Moore of Detroit, Karisma Penn of Shaker Heights, Ohio and Destiny Williams of Benton Harbor, Mich. all signed letters of intent for the 2009-10 season.

GodBold, Penn and Williams are each ranked in ESPN HoopGurlz’ top-40, and the class ranks as No. 2 in the nation.

Blue Star Basketball, another national recruiting service, rated the class No. 1 in the Big Ten, the press release said.

“This is one of the finest hours in the history of Illinois recruiting. I couldn’t think of six finer young women to positively represent the University of Illinois,” Law said in the press release.
