Bowl hopes fade with loss to Ohio State

By Laura Hettiger

Falling to 5-6 on the year, Illinois dropped its final home game of the season to Ohio State 30-20.

After the third quarter, Juice Williams had put up 142 offensive yards through the air while Ohio State’s young quarterback Terrelle Pryor only completed six of nine passes for 49 yards. However, the bulk of the Buckeyes offense came from the feet of junior running back, Chris “Beanie” Wells, who put up 137 yards before the final quarter.

Prior to the opening Senior Day kickoff, a montage to last season’s stunning 28-21 victory against Ohio State played across the Jumbotron. Unfortunately for the Illini, the extra encouragement did not translate into a win.
