Men’s cross country finishes in ninth to end season

By Emily Bayci

The Illini men’s cross country team concluded its season Saturday with a ninth place finish out of 28 teams at the NCAA Midwest Regional Championships.

After having a disappointing performance at the Big Ten Championships, the Illini came out seeking redemption, having three runners place in the top 50.

The Illini were led by two freshman, Nathan Troester and Hunter Mickow who finished 33rd and 35th, respectively.

Jeremy Stevens led the pack for the first 8K and then had a rough day, finishing fifth for the team.

The Illini failed to advance to Nationals, but with no seniors on the squad, the entire team will return next season.
