Junior Jenna Smith surpassed the 1,000 career point mark Friday, as she put up 29 points in a 64-44 win against the Indiana-Purdue Fort Wayne Mastodons. Junior Lacey Simpson nearly recorded the second ever triple-double in Illinois history with 17 points, nine rebounds and nine steals. She was also just steal away from tying the school record of 10.

Freshmen Fabiola Josil and Macie Blinn made their debuts in the starting lineup alongside Smith, Simpson and senior Chelsea Gordon. Blinn put in her first career three pointer at the 17 minute mark of the first half. She finished with five points and three assists. Josil finished with two points and two assists.

The Illini are back in action Sunday in Champaign for their home opener against Eastern Illinois.
