Illini hockey wins CSCHL tournament opener

The Illini won their CSCHL tournament opener on Friday, beating Robert Morris in convincing fashion 6-3.

Illinois and Robert Morris were even through the first twenty minutes, until the Illini broke out in the second period.

Forward Tom Gilbert recorded two of his three assists in the second period, while forward Sam Fatigato notched one of his two goals in the period as well.

Interim captain Jason Nemeth led the attack with a goal and two assists in the game, including two helpers in the third.

The power-play unit improved with converting on 3 of their 10 chances, while goalie DJ Kohler continued his dominant play with 31 saves.
