The Illinois Men’s Track and Field team competed in several indoor meets over the past few weeks while also being plagued by the injury bug. The season began with two consecutive home meets – the “Border Battle” dual meet and the Illini Classic. Illinois split the dual meet by defeating Missouri and falling short to Iowa. The team then took care of business winning the Illini Classic handily over Eastern Illinois, St. Louis, Loyola, Bradley and Butler. They did not fare as well in Lexington, Kentucky in the Rod McCravy Memorial Invite and one of the lone bright spots came from a school record set by Dylan Lafond in the 3,000m with a mark of 8:00.48. The Illini will return to action next weekend in the Frank Sevigne Husker Invite located in Lincoln, Nebraska.
