Illinois did not lose any of the singles matches in the afternoon, but Hardy walked away with a tie.

The Illini are now 13-0 in the Tinervin Cup — their first event of the season, and are looking to make their ninth-straight NCAA Tournament appearance at the end of the spring.

“Once again, this was a beneficial trip for our team,” Illinois head coach Mike Small said. “We were able to play some good competition at a quality golf course and to gauge our games moving forward into the spring. Now we have an idea of the issues we need to address and improve on.”

The Illini have won four of their last five tournaments. The team plays its next tournament on Feb. 29 at the Louisiana Classics Invitational in Lafeyette, Louisiana, which the Illini have won for three consecutive years.
