Illinois men’s basketball announced that guard Jalen Coleman-Lands fractured a bone in his right hand during a skill workout Wednesday. He underwent surgery Friday and will be out approximately eight weeks.

The sophomore appeared in all 34 games last year, starting 24 times. He averaged 10.3 points overall, setting an Illinois record for three-pointers by a freshman.

The first team practice is Oct. 3 with the first exhibition game scheduled for Oct. 30.
