Dylan Meyer competes in the PGA TOUR

Over the weekend, Illini golf’s own Dylan Meyer took on some of the best golfers at the PGA Tour.

Meyer competed in the 2018 Valspar Championship making his second appearance in a PGA Tour event.

The senior is the owner of many accolades throughout his career, three of which came in 2017, including PING First Team All-American, Big Ten Player of the Year, and the All-Nicklaus Team.

Meyer also made his first PGA Tour appearance at the 2017 John Deere Classic and also went on to play at the Web.com Tour’s Lincoln Land Charity Championship.

The Indiana native opened the Valspar Championship strong with at 1-under par 70 performance, which tied him for eighth with Tiger Woods and fellow Illini Steve Striker.

Meyer finished out the Valspar Championship tied for 74th overall, with a total score 7-over par.

Along with Meyer, several Illinois alumni were at the event. Among them were Scott Langley, Luke Guthrie and Steve Stricker who each finished among the top 15 in the Tour.

Coming off of a win at the Cologuard Classic, Stricker closed the event with a score 4-under par to tie for 12th overall.

On the Web.com Tour, Scott Langley and Luke Guthrie finished among the top 15 at the El Bosque Mexico Championship by Innova. Langley shot 9-under par to tie for sixth, while Guthrie closed play 8-under par and tied for 13th.
