NCAA announces March Madness basketball tournament cancellation

The NCAA officially canceled both Division I men’s and women’s 2020 basketball tournaments. NCAA President Mark Emmert and the Board of Governors announced the cancellation in a statement on Thursday afternoon.
The NCAA sites the ongoing COVID-19 public health threat as its cause for the cancellation.
In addition to the men’s and women’s basketball tournament, all other remaining NCAA winter and spring championships will be canceled.
