After over two weeks off, the Illini were looking to have a strong finish to the fall season at the Landfall Tradition in Wilmington, North Carolina.
Instead, the team had a rough go of things, finishing last. Illinois ended the tournament in 18th place, posting rounds of 302 (+14), 297 (+9) and 314 (+28) to total 913 (+51).
After a rough first round, the Illini showed improvement on day two. Illinois tallied a +9 in the second round, the ninth-best showing on the day. The team headed into the third round tied for 15th place.
However, the Illini completely fell apart during the third round. They shot by far the worst round of the entire tournament at +28, more than double the meet’s next highest score.
Illinois totaled 913 (+49) on the three-day tournament. The Illini finished well out of 17th place, ending 13 strokes behind Maryland.

Senior Anna Ritter led Illinois with strokes of 72, 73 and 77 to total 222 (+6). Ritter tied for 35th overall alongside five other athletes. This was Ritter’s third time as the Illini’s leading scorer in their five fall matches.
Senior Victoria Zheng finished second for the Illini with strokes of 74, 72 and 81 to total 227 (+11) and tied for 60th overall. Zheng’s second round of 72 was tied for the best round of any Illini this weekend alongside Ritter’s first round.
The Illini are now finished with the first half of the season. They don’t compete again until Feb. 15, when the team travels to Florida for the Spartan Sun Coast Invitational.
