Krannert Center for the Performing Arts is hosting several events for Mom’s Weekend. There will be several options for students and their visitors.

Krannert Center kicks off the weekend on Friday, April 15, with “Aloha Say the Pretty Girls” at 7:30 p.m. Krannert’s Web site described this comedy as “imaginative.”

“(The show) examines how young people enter and leave each other’s lives at the attempt to become grown-up versions of themselves,” as they journey from New York to exotic locales, Krannert’s Web site said.

It is also showing Saturday at 7:30 p.m. and Sunday at 3 p.m. in the Colwell Playhouse. Tickets for this event are $12.

At 2 p.m. on April 16, Krannert Center holds its annual Women’s Glee Club Mom’s Day Concert, a choral ensemble to honor mothers each year.

The Women’s Glee Club will perform, featuring sets by The Girls Next Door, an all-female a cappella group, and Varsity Men’s Glee Club. The concert will end with the combined choirs, Varsity Men’s and Women’s Glee Club, said Katie Van Eck, president of the Women’s Glee Club.

Tickets are $6 general admission, $5 for senior citizens and $2 for students.

Later that night, at 7:30 p.m., the Black Chorus Mom’s Day Concert is being held at Foellinger Great Hall in Krannert, said the Krannert Center Program Guide. Its theme is “Sweet Soul Music,” and the Black Chorus will perform a selection of spirituals, anthems, soul and R&B; music, jazz and traditional and contemporary gospel music. Tickets are $10 for general admission and $7 for students.

To cap off the weekend, Krannert Center Debut Artist and pianist, Ann Kai-An Wu, will be performing on Sunday at Foellinger Great Hall. Tickets range from $10-$32 depending on seating. Refreshments will be served at 2:15 p.m. and the performance will begin at 3 p.m.

Krannert Art Museum is hosting exhibitions Friday and Saturday that are free to the public. From 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Saturday and 12 p.m. to 5 p.m. on Sunday, there will be an exhibition called “Petals and Paintings.”
