Beware of Campus Property Management

As a resident of the “Healey Gardens”, I find that the building’s name is inappropriate considering it conjures up an image of a peaceful, lovely and clean place to live. But thanks to Campus Property Management, the apartment building should be named “Hell Hole” due to its current condition. The building itself has great potential, with the units having large bedrooms and Jacuzzi tubs. But who needs a Jacuzzi tub when there isn’t even a light in the elevator?

For the past three months the tenants of Fourth and Healey have had to ride in an elevator with no lighting. “Campus Property Management” has earned an entry in my speed dial. Every time the elevator light burns out or breaks, I dial their number. And if we are lucky, they will come and install one light bulb in a fixture that is meant for three.

The tile floor in my apartment’s kitchen has been cracked since move-in. The crack extends along the entire length of the kitchen and several sharp pieces are protruding from the floor. My roommates and I have called CPM numerous times for the past six months. I even had my mother call, and yet that still did not faze them. CPM claims they are going to fix it during spring break so at least we will be able to walk through our kitchen at ease the last two months of our lease.

Campus Property Management is an injustice to students and their parents who pay extremely high rates to live in dumps. Since I do not have a view of the skyline and basically pay Chicago rent, you think proper building maintenance would be in order.
