Too many guns
April 18, 2007
About a week ago one of your columnists wrote an article that supported the use of concealed firearms.
At the time I was very angered by the remarks but didn’t feel passionate enough to write about it.
But in light of Monday’s events at Virginia Tech I feel the need.
32 college students, just like us, living their lives, going to class, going to parties, are now dead.
Several others are injured, all done for unknown reasons and because of a person with a gun.
I wonder how a person can argue for a law that would allow people to carry concealed firearms and buy multiple guns when something like this can happen.
There is evil in this world, and there is nothing we can do about that.
But there are also too many guns in our country, and we can do something about that.
I understand the Second Amendment and why people feel that the use of guns in our society is a right.
But to enact a law that would make it easier for people to get guns is ludicrous.
We need fewer guns in our streets, schools and our world, not more.
God bless the students of Virginia Tech, and I hope the lives lost Monday will not be in vain.
