Yesterday evening, famed writer and U of I alumnus Roger Ebert endorsed Raja Krishnamoorthi on his Twitter account.

Krishnamoorthi is a Democratic candidate running for Illinois Comptroller. The main duties of a Comptroller are to oversee and report the state’s fiscal and financial matters as well as to develop financial rules.

The Peoria Journal Star, the Chicago Tribune and the Kankakee City News have also endorsed Krishnamoorthi.

Voting polls for the Illinois Primary Election began this morning at 6:00 a.m. and will remain open until 7:00 p.m.

Other candidates include Clint Krislov (D), David Miller (D), Jim Dodge (R), Bill Kelly (R), Judy Baar Topinka (R), Erika Schaefer (Green) and Julie Fox (Libertarian).
