The No. 11 Illinois men’s tennis team had its six-match winning streak snapped Tuesday afternoon.
The No. 15 Stanford Cardinal visited the Illini at the Khan Outdoor Tennis Complex and came out on top 4-3.
Stanford swept the doubles point 3-0, with a big win by the No. 2-ranked duo of Ryan Thacher and Bradley Klahn over No. 8 Marek Czerwinski and Dennis Nevolo.
In singles play, the Cardinal kept up the pressure when Denis Lin defeated Bruno Abdelnour to give Stanford a 2-0 lead.
Wins by Johnny Hamui and No. 77 Abe Souza evened up the score for the Illini in Nos. 3 and 4 singles.

But the Cardinal responded by winning the match behind victories at Nos. 1 and 2 singles. No. 36 Nevolo fell to No. 8 Klahn, and No. 64 Czwerwinski came up short against No. 35 Alex Clayton.
To end the day, freshman Stephen Hoh defeated Stanford’s Richard Wire in No. 5 singles for his seventh straight singles win.
Illinois returns to action when it travels to Malibu, Calif., to take on Pepperdine on Saturday.
