The Illinois women’s golf team will compete in the first ever Memphis Women’s Invitational on Oct. 25-26 in Germantown, Tenn.
The University of Memphis will host the tournament, which will be played at the par-71, 6,176-yard Ridgeway Country Club.
“An advantage in a brand new tournament is that you go in with absolutely no expectations because you have no idea what exactly the course is,” Illini head coach Renee Slone said in a press release. “It’s new in all ways, which is nice and that way we can just focus playing good golf, playing our games.”
After a Big Ten-loaded Lady Northern Invitational, Illinois will test itself against 17 non-conference opponents. Junior Katelin Dilger will make her 2010-11 season debut at the meet, and will be joined by Illini teammates Samantha Sloan, Ember Schuldt, Hailey Koschmann and Nora Lucas.
The tournament kicks off with two rounds Monday, and will conclude with the final round Tuesday.
