OUR PREDICTIONS: Picks for week 5

h2. Northwestern at No. 24 Illinois

*Asofsky: (12-8)*

_Illinois 21, Northwestern 17_

Persa shakes off the rust and gives the Illini a run for their money.

*Turkin: (13-7)*

_Illinois 28, Northwestern 21_

The Illini protect the Land of Lincoln Trophy on homecoming.

*Souligne: (14-6)*

_Illinois 28, Northwestern 20_

The Illini offense needs to step it up and reach the potential everyone knows they have.

*Voit: (14-6)*

_Illinois 23, Northwestern 17_

Northwestern was defenseless against Army’s option attack in Week Three.

h2. Nevada at No. 4 Boise State

_Nevada at No. 4 Boise State_

After last year’s debacle that put an end to the Broncos’ national title hopes, I expect a motivated Boise State team at home.

_Boise State 35, Nevada 14_

I don’t care that Boise State isn’t in a power-six conference, the Broncos are a national championship contender.

_Boise State 49, Nevada 9_

Boise State Broncos are going BCS or Bust.

_Boise State 42, Nevada 12_

As if losing QB Colin Kaepernick and DE Dontay Moch to the NFL wasn’t enough, Nevada has to deal with BSU’s lingering angst from last years shocker in Reno.

h2. No. 3 Alabama at No. 12 Florida

_Alabama 24, Florida 13_

Roll Tide.

_Florida 24, Alabama 21_

Will Muschamp coached under Nick Saban and knows his system well. The Tide travel to Gainesville and become Gator Bait.

_Alabama 30, Florida 22_

I still don’t like Nick Saban, but he still deserves respect. This is my formal apology for doubting the Tide last week.

_Alabama 27, Florida 21_

Alabama has already had to gear up for two big games (at Penn State and against Arkansas) while Florida’s toughest test was at home against Tennessee.

h2. No. 8 Nebraska at No.7 Wisconsin

_Wisconsin 31, Nebraska 24_

Whoever wins this game could be a Big Ten representative in the BCS National Championship. Corn-fed offensive lineman galore. Wisco at home.

_Wisconsin 27, Nebraska 24_

These two teams will see each other in Indianapolis come Dec. 3.

_Wisconsin 20, Nebraska 10_

Nebraska’s D has been shaky this year, and you can’t take down the Badgers with anything but a flawless game.

_Wisconsin 34, Nebraska 21_

Be afraid, SEC, be very afraid. Wisconsin is as close to an Alabama/LSU stopper as the Big Ten has produced in years.

h2. No. 13 Clemson at No. 11 Virginia Tech

_Virginia Tech 21, Clemson 17_

Clemson is riding way too high after back-to-back victories over Auburn and Florida State. Perfect time for a letdown on the road.

_Virginia Tech 30, Clemson 21_

Clemson has two great wins in back-to-back games, but both came at home. I don’t see them walking out of Blacksburg with a “W.”

_Clemson 31, Virginia Tech 27_

Clemson has beaten two straight ranked opponents. Who has Va. Tech beaten?

_Virginia Tech 24, Clemson 18_

Clemson is riding high but Virginia Tech’s defense is ferocious and has allowed an average of 43 rushing yards this season.
