Woman flees after attempted bank robbery

The Urbana Police Department is searching for a woman after an attempted bank robbery at Heartland Bank, 1812 S. Philo Road, at around 1 p.m. Friday.

According to a press release from Urbana police, the female suspect walked inside the bank and approached a teller. The woman then pressed a note against the glass window that separates the teller from the public. The note reportedly said, “Give me the money or I’ll set the bomb off.” Before the teller could respond, the woman fled from the bank. She ran west toward a Walgreens and County Market, according to the press release. No injuries were reported, and no money was taken from the bank.

The suspect was described as a black female teenager, about 5-foot-3 and around 120 pounds. She was reported wearing a black coat and dark pants.
