Police blotter for Nov. 7, 2014

Champaign

— A 26-year-old male was arrested on the charge of theft at Circle K, 1101 N. Prospect Ave., around 7:30 a.m. Wednesday.

According to the report, the suspect stole two bottles of alcohol.

— Aggravated battery was reported in the 100 block of West University Avenue around 12 p.m. Wednesday.

According to the report, an unknown offender “head-butted” the victim while she crossed the road. The offender was not located.

— Aggravated robbery was reported near the intersection of Columbia Avenue and State Street around 4:30 p.m. Wednesday.

According to the report, the victim was struck in the head with a brick and his cell phone was stolen.

University

— A 45-year-old male was arrested on the charge of criminal trespassing to state-supported land at Altgeld Hall, 1409 W. Green St.,  around 8 p.m. Wednesday.

According to the report, a library security officer recognized the suspect and was aware that he previously had been issued a no-trespassing notice for University property.

— An 18-year-old male was issued a state of Illinois notice to appear in court for retail theft at the Illini Union Bookstore, 809 S. Wright St., around 5 p.m. Wednesday.

According to the report, the offender was seen walking out of the bookstore with two books he had not paid for.

Urbana

— A 22-year-old male was arrested on the charges of possession of cannabis, driving under the influence of drugs and illegal use of electronic communication near the intersection of Lincoln Avenue and Eads Street around 3 p.m. Wednesday.

According to the report, an officer observed the suspect talking on his cell phone while operating a motor vehicle. The officer made contact with the suspect and could smell the strong odor of cannabis coming from inside the car. The suspect admitted that he had just smoked cannabis in the vehicle.

— Burglary was reported in the 1300 block of Silver Street around 12 p.m. Wednesday.

According to the report, an unknown offender entered the victim’s unlocked apartment and stole a phone and some cash.

— Criminal damage to property was reported in the 1200 block of West Church Street around 4 p.m. Wednesday.

According to the report, an unknown offender damaged the victim’s vehicle by cutting all four tires, scratching the paint and smashing the windshield with a brick.
