The Urbana Free Library announced the temporary closing of its facilities in order to prevent the spread of COVID-19 in the Champaign-Urbana area.

On their website, the library cites this decision as an attempt to contain the coronavirus by social distancing, as recommended by the CDC.

The closing will continue until March 30. Until then, the library’s services will be unavailable to the public. Library staff plan to resume normal operation on March 31.

In addition, until April 12, the library will be canceling all outreach, programming and meeting room bookings.

Until the library reopens, online resources such as e-books, movies and digital magazines will remain available through the E-library. The E-library is also reachable through the Urbana Free Library app.
