Illinois has landed the commitment of Class of 2022 five-star guard Skyy Clark: announced on Thursday during halftime at the State Champions Invitational in Tampa, Florida.

Clark becomes one of the highest-rated commits in Illini program history, per data from 247Sports.

He is the seventh-highest rated player from Florida in his class and the 27th-ranked Class of 2022 recruit in the country.

A 6-foot-3-inch point guard, Clark played at high school powerhouse Monteverde Academy in Florida, though he hails from California.

He originally committed to Kentucky, though he ultimately decommitted on March 6. In Clark’s updated list of his top six schools, which he released on March 29, he included Illinois, Southern California, Maryland, Louisville, Tennessee and Washington.

He should slide into the hole left by sophomore guard Andre Curbelo, and he could potentially earn a spot in the starting lineup with all three starting Illini guards leaving the team.

Clark is the fourth member of the Class of 2022 to join Illinois, with a trio of four-star recruits — forward Ty Rodgers and guards Jayden Epps and Sencire Harris — also set to head to Champaign next season.
