Illinois Governor Pat Quinn has announced three of his appointments for director positions within his administration.

In Thursday's newscast, The Daily Illini talks about Thursday's Board of Trustee meeting, drop in the University's College of Law ranking and former Gov. Rod Blagojevich's first day in prison.

The College of Law dropped 12 spots to No. 35 in the latest U.S. News and World Report’s rankings for the best law schools. This drop comes after a admissions dean systematically manipulated LSAT scores and GPAs for years, according to an external investigation.

University President Michael Hogan did not address calls for his resignation at the Board of Trustees meeting during the morning session. Instead, he chose to speak about the financial constraints of the state and its impact on the University.

Students will now have a chance to figure out whether their cat got sick or not. The lecture is part of the Pet U : Learning to care for pets program which is a program designed to provide daily care information to pet owners. Pet U is offered at two locations; Chicago and Urbana. Companion Animal Resource and Education Center will be co-sponsoring the sessions at Urbana and the college of Veterinary Medicine is leading the session. The lecture on how to take care of your cat will be held at March 12, 6:30 p.m. to 8 p.m. in the University of Illinois Veterinary Teaching Hospital, which is located at 1008 W. Hazelwood Dr., Urbana.

David Finkel,Washington Post Pulitzer Prize-winning journalist, will speak at 213 Gregory Hall on Thursday. Finkel's lecture will take place at noon. There is no cost for attendance.
