The Daily Illini COVID-19 updates for April 17

The Champaign-Urbana Public Health District announced two new cases of the coronavirus in Champaign County on Friday. Another 44 people have been tested for the virus, bringing the county total to 1,758 tests.

Of the 93 people who have tested positive for the coronavirus in Champaign County, 32 have active cases, 57 have recovered and four have died. Six people with active cases are currently hospitalized.

Illinois Gov. J.B. Pritzker officially ended in-person instruction in all state schools for the remainder of the school year. Pritzker will address the stay-at-home order sometime in the next week.

Friday was Illinois’ highest spike in positive coronavirus tests, as officials confirmed another 1,842 cases of the virus.
