The University hosted an informational open house along with the city of Champaign to educate the public about the South Fourth Street Extension Project, which would involve constructing an improved Fourth Street from Windsor Road to St. Mary’s Road.

The city of Champaign will celebrate its 150th Anniversary in a Unity Celebration on Thursday, revolving around the theme of “our best yesterday, today and the future.”

One of the biggest draws to the Taste was Zorba’s Restaurant, which made its comeback after the main restaurant burned down in the spring, along with Mia Za’s and the clothing store Pitaya. Zorba’s workers at the event said the restaurant plans to reopen its storefront on Green Street this fall. Several people said Zorba’s drew them to the Taste.

As crime has spiked in southeast Urbana, attention has been focused on one of its perceived causes: liquor stores. The city council has already passed an ordinance restricting the amount of liquor licenses Urbana will give out, and it may pass another.
