A suspect attempted to lure a child on the corner of Kinch Street and Michigan Avenue on Tuesday, according to an informational release from the Urbana Police Department.
Urbana patrol officers responded around 3:54 p.m. to reports of a suspect attempting to lure a child walking home from school around 3:30 p.m. with promises of candy. The child ignored the offer, made it back to their residence and told their parents, who notified police.
The suspect is described as being male and driving a black or dark SUV. Urbana police will provide extra patrol at all local school dismissals and arrivals.
The Urbana Police Department is asking residents to submit footage from the 2000, 2100, 2200 or 2300 block of East Michigan to call the department’s non-emergency number, 217-384-2320.
