Mike Garrity, an offensive lineman on the Illinois football team, was charged with two counts of aggravated battery following a bar fight Friday night at KAM’S. He has plead not guilty.
According to police, the 19-year-old Garrity punched an unidentified man after a woman said the man was harassing her. Champaign County prosecutor Julia Rietz said the man’s skull was fractured, sending him to the hospital.
The 6-foot-6, 310-pound Garrity is a sophomore from Batavia, Ill., but has yet to see the field as an Illini. A team spokesperson said he has been suspended indefinitely.
