The Illinois women’s basketball team defeated Missouri State, 65-53, on Thursday night to advance to the Women’s National Invitation Tournament (WNIT) quarterfinals.

Karisma Penn paced the Illini with 16 points. Penn also grabbed eight rebounds and blocked four shots. Senior Jenna Smith finished the night with 11 points, 17 rebounds, six assists and five blocks.
Illinois will face in-state foe Illinois State in the quarterfinals on Sunday at 2 p.m. in Normal, Ill.
