UI extends softball head coach Sullivan’s contract

Illini softball head coach Terri Sullivan agreed to a five-year contract extension after leading Illinois to its most successful season in school history.

Sullivan was named the 2010 Big Ten Coach of the Year after earning a .850 winning percentage, the second highest in the nation.

Sullivan’s squad also notched the best conference record (16-2) and second-most regular season victories in program history, all against one of the toughest schedules in the nation.

“I am pleased to extend Coach Sullivan’s contract,” Illinois Athletic Director Ron Guenther said in a press release. “Under Coach Sullivan’s leadership, Illinois has earned a reputation as one of the nation’s elite softball programs. She continues to excel in recruiting, both regionally and nationally, and I am very optimistic about our future.”

Sullivan has coached three All-Americans, 34 All-Big Ten honorees, seven ESPN The Magazine/CoSIDA Academic All-District award recipients and 74 Academic All-Big Ten members during her tenure.
