Raphael Ranola, Opinions Editor
Hi there! I'm Raphael, the opinions editor of The Daily Illini. If you've read any of the editorials published from February to the present — that was me. I'm majoring in economics, and, though I have no aspirations to continue with journalism outside of the opinions section of the DI, I'd love to write some op-eds later in my career.
Formerly the editor-in-chief at the Maine West High School's newspaper, The Westerner, I gained a fondness for writing staff editorials, prompting me to join opinions in September 2022. Somehow, I became opinions editor in late January. I am a freshman, so the topics I write about may be ... eclectic. Follow along as I discover my voice and mature throughout the duration of this job!
