Importance of Earth Day

With Earth Day coming up and the beauty of spring approaching, I wanted to write in and express how important the effects of global warming and climate action are to me as a Chicago voter.

I feel these are pivotal issues and integral to the citizens of my neighborhood of Rogers Park, the burgeoning metropolis of Chicago and the world. Speaking to my neighbors, our diverse backgrounds are linked by environmental concerns.

With climate legislation being drafted for the first time in history, I urge Chicago and its representatives to call for climate change legislation, and to be a leader on the green front.

As President Obama’s hometown, Chicago has the potential to be a beacon for the earth, a bright light on the frontier of sustainability. Let’s achieve the possible by believing in the power of ingenuity, hope, and action.
