Members of the crowd dance to music from Peng at the Canopy Club on Feb. 29 to earn a spot in the Solshine Reveire Festival.

The Canopy Club, complete with three staging areas, strobe lights and a large screen to project colorful graphics, is a no-brainer for this year’s Best Venue.

The venue is named after the most diverse region of the rainforest, the canopy, and holds itself to a similar standard in terms of its operation.

“The Canopy Club is committed to diversity in the entertainment we provide for our patron base,” wrote the venue on its website. “We also strive to foster an environment of activism for positive social and environmental change.”

Living up to its name, The Canopy Club regularly hosts a variety of artists to cater to all types of entertainment lovers. From drag shows to a capella sets, you would be hard-pressed to find nothing that fits your style.

The venue is also praised by students and locals alike for its physical and economic accessibility. The Canopy Club is situated a block from the Krannert Center for the Performing Arts on campus. The average ticket price is $15, making it one of the cheapest places to see a show in the Champaign-Urbana area.

Operating from 7 p.m. to 2 a.m. to cater to your late-night musical needs, there’s no better place to feel the beat than The Canopy Club.
