KAMS, located at the intersection of First and Green streets, has been dubbed the best on-campus bar in this year’s Best of CU. The party bar is well-known among students and alumni and has been around since 1933. Changing locations in 2020 has not affected its popularity, as it still attracts a line out the door almost every night of the week.
The “Home of the Drinking Illini” also features this year’s top on-campus drink: the Blue Guy. With its fraternal twin – the Orange Guy – these sweet beverages sporting the colors of the Illini are commonly spotted with a group of students icing out in the middle of the bar.
KAMS doesn’t just feature Illinois-specific drinks, though. Its fame has continued through themed nights, such as “Time Warp Tuesday,” where ABBA and more can hardly be heard over the entire bar singing at the top of their lungs. “Friday After Class” also features happy hour deals for students as they head into the weekend, ready to hit up their favorite bar.
Even Kendall Jenner embraced the KAMS experience this year, promoting her 818 Tequila while serving students from behind the counter. KAMS is No. 1 in the hearts of Kendall and Best of CU, proving why it remains the place to be.
