An Illini-Alert reported shots fired at Second and Green streets in Champaign. Individuals are advised to leave the area if it is safe to do so or remain in a secure location. According to police radio, a witness saw “a Black male in all black with a black mask on walk by, and then the shooting happened.”

Multiple witnesses corroborated the first witness and saw the man running northbound on Second Street, police units said.

A follow-up Illini-Alert advised to continue avoiding Second and Green streets. No additional shots were fired and police are on the scene investigating.
